9th Annual Members’ Show at Spencertown Academy Opens

Spencertown Academy Arts Center’s 9th Annual Members’ Show (October 5 – November 3, 2024) was a spectacular success this year.

There were many high-quality (and innovative artworks) on display in a wide variety of media. Fine arts and crafts, from painting to woodworking and ceramics were well showcased well by curators Karen Andrews and David Lesako.

I exhibited an 11×14″ oil painting: “Harbor View,” a semi-abstracted landscape of a scene in Camden, Maine.  My painting –  along with several other artworks –  sold at the Opening Reception.

The show at the Gallery at the Spencertown Academy runs Saturdays and Sundays, 1-5 pm, through November 3rd.

The well-hung show included some surprises, like a motion-activated mixed media piece by Maggie Tobin (far right on wall) where the sun and its reflection appeared periodically, then faded.

Plein Air Show Opens at Welles Gallery

The Plein Air exhibition at the Welles Gallery (Lenox, MA) opened this afternoon. 21 artists from the Guild of Berkshire Artists exhibited recent work created outdoors. The Guild organizes numerous plein air outings during the summer and early fall months, primarily to locations in the Berkshires.

I am exhibiting two oil paintings: “Looking North”, and “Morning on the Appalachian Trail.”  Both were painted on the summit of Mount Greylock earlier this month.

The exhibit runs through September 28th. Show hours are Tuesday-Thursday, 10-7, and Fridays & Saturdays 10-5. There will be a Closing Reception and awards ceremony on September 28th, and there are numerous artist talks and plein air demonstrations throughout the show.

Woodstock School of Art Showcase Exhibition Underway

Woodstock School of Art Showcase Exhibition Underway

The Showcase Exhibition I is now underway at the Woodstock School of Art in Woodstock, New York. This exhibition, held in the Robert H. Angeloch Gallery as well as online, is one of two student Salons Woodstock hosts annually for students of its classes and workshops.

Between the gallery and online exhibition, there were 131 artworks from 93 students.

I am exhibiting a portrait from Lois Wooley’s “The Costumed Portrait” workshop held in March of this year.

Working from a live model over a two-day period, Lois demonstrated her approach to painting the model. The small class size allowed excellent feedback to all participants.

8th Annual Members’ Show Opens

8th Annual Members’ Show Opens

The 8th Annual Members’ Show kicked off last night with an Artist Reception at the Spencertown Academy Arts Center.

The galleries full both of colorful 2D and 3D art in a wide variety of media, and the event was well-attended by artists and patrons alike.

I am exhibiting “Marsh: – an oil painting on paper. This work was done from a US Fish and Wildlife Service photo of what they consider a “pristine marsh” in Cape Cod, MA. I was attracted to the serenity of the scene, and the calm and limited colors.

The show at the Gallery at the Spencertown Academy runs Saturdays and Sundays, 1-5 pm, through December 10th.
